VERSE OF THE DAY:  ~Psalm  27:1-4 "The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh, My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell. Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident. One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple."

Jesus is that light and our salvation. There is something awesome about knowing Him, that causes a person to grow in strength and boldness. It is a confidence that can only come through discovering our created identity by being born of His Spirit. David declared throughout many of his Psalms the Lord as his refuge and his strength. It was this reliance upon the living God that caused David to rise up and gain victory even when the odds were overwhelmingly against him. But from where did David find this confidence and strength? Where did his fearlessness come from?

It came from his constant hunger and thirst for more of the presence of God's Spirit. One thing, he says, was his desire. Just one thing that he sought! It was the presence of God that dwelt in the temple at that time in the most holy place. David's heart cried out for the opportunity to dwell in God's house for all his days, to be able to inquire of the Lord, and to behold the beauty of God's glorious presence. Can we begin to ask God with a greater fervency to give us a heart of consistent hunger and thirst for more of the Lord?

There is a primary difference between the Old Testament and the New Covenant. The Old Testament was written before the Christ came. Mankind had the ability to encounter God in the O.T. but God dwelt in the Ark behind a veil in the inner most part of the temple. The N.T. scriptures teach us that when we are "Born Again" we receive Christ as Lord and His Spirit dwells in us making us His temples. So technically, we cannot get "more" of Him. However we can become more aware of His presence in us and of the unsearchable riches of this wonderful inheritance. We do this in part by renewing our minds to his knowledge through prayer and meditation upon His word. May we each understand the paradox of being hungry and satisfied at the same time!

PRAYER: "God increase my hunger for more of the riches of Your unsearchable wisdom and power. Increase my awareness of Your presence in my life and the implications of what that means. Like David, I want to know You more , to be closer with You, to know what makes my Father smile, and how to never break Your heart. There is nothing that compares with Your presence God. Take me deeper, deeper Lord into Your very heart, Your thoughts and Your desire. Take me deeper God and never let me go! Amen"

VERSE FOR FEARLESS LIVING!  ~  Psalm 56:4 "In God (I will praise His word) In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?"
