What is Jesus Waiting For?

VERSE OF THE DAY:  ~Hebrews 10:12-16 “But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.  But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before,  “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,”

Despite all our different opinions of what it will look like, or when it will happen, we as Christians eagerly await the return of Jesus. Many of us have compared the daily news with scripture and we can see the obvious parallels pointing to the “signs of the times”. Yet, in all our anticipation, we cannot allow ourselves to neglect the glaring reality of this text; “…waiting till His enemies are made His footstool”.

He now sits at the right hand of God and all principalities and powers will bow before Him. Jesus has given His church a job to do and He is waiting until we put His enemies under His feet. I know this isn’t what a lot of people are teaching out there, but while much of the church is waiting for Jesus to come, Jesus is waiting for us to put the Amen on His Yes! This may come as a shock to many, but the church has a job to do before we can see His return! Now, hold on a second, before you dismiss these bold claims, I’m just asking that you take some time and put some energy into helping settle this matter so we as the church can get unified and bring this era to a victorious close.

Here’s a few questions to answer. But before I go there I want to clarify that by answer I don’t mean parroting off a bunch of quotes from some evangelistic campaign or movie series. Let’s slow it down a little and find out what the Bible really teaches. Are we conquered or are we more than conquerors through Him who loved us? Has Christ given us the victory or has He given the enemy power over us? Is Jesus building a church that the gates of hell will not prevail against? Or; is Jesus building His church that is weak and cowardly people running for the caves to avoid the powers of darkness? And; Is the church powerless or is the power of God working through us? The scripture teaches us that God has put all things under Jesus’ feet, that He gave Christ to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of all in all! (Eph 1:22-23)

Listen, His power is working on earth through His church! We are made more than conquerors, the manifold wisdom of Christ is made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places! We are the temples of His Holy Spirit and that same spirit which raised Christ from the dead dwells in us. We are the army of the living God. And Christ is seated at the right hand of God the Father waiting for us to make His enemies His footstool! We do that through prayer, obedience, worship and as a unified force that has Holy Spirit led unity! Let’s not keep Him waiting too long…

PRAYER: “Thank You Jesus for the finished work of the cross, for Holy Spirit guidance and for the power of Your word that sanctifies us and frees us from all darkness. Thank You that you have made me free for the purpose of advancing Your Kingdom on earth. Help me to hear You Holy Spirit as You witness to me the truth and reveal to me the power of Gods word and love. Give me ears to hear You Holy Spirit, as You empower me for victory, in Jesus’ name, amen.”

VERSE FOR FEARLESS LIVING!  ~Deuteronomy 31:5-6  “The Lord will give them over to you, that you may do to them according to every commandment which I have commanded you. Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.””
