For Kings And All In Authority

VERSE OF THE DAY: ~ 1 Timothy 2:1-4 “Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
Let’s start with verse 4 and go backwards to verse 1 and see what kind of sense we can make of it from that order. God’s desire is that all men be saved(sozo) and come to the knowledge of the truth. This really means that nobody is disallowed. It means that God is willing for every single person that you meet or see to be saved, that Christ’s blood is sufficient for everyone. Knowing this we can always operate with the understanding that every person we connect with in this life is a person that God wants to be saved and made whole. No exceptions! That is really good news! Next, we see that it is good and acceptable in the sight of God our savior that we lead a quiet and peaceable life with all Godliness and reverence. That’s incredible! It means that it is possible for us to live in a world without persecution and without violence. But hey, how in the world will that ever happen?
Paul urges us who believe in Christ to call upon God, to be persistent in our prayers and to intercede with prayer and thanksgiving for all men including political leaders and those in authority. This is a key for world changing revival. I fear and sometimes even weep when I read through Facebook or twitter and see literally thousands of Christians bashing and slandering the very people that God’s word pleads with us to give thanks for and to lift before God earnestly and persistently. Could we be perpetuating the very thing we want to change? (I realize many times it is done with good intentions and hopes for a better future for our world.)
I ask you to imagine if all 60 million who claim to be Christians in America would pray daily for God to protect the mind and hearts of our president, mayors, governors, bosses, neighbors, judges and friends and to save them, giving them revelation of the truth of His kingdom. Imagine if we did it daily. Imagine if we joined together and prayed corporately on a regular basis. It starts with me and you!
PRAYER: “God I ask forgiveness for any criticism or trash talking that I may ever have done against any leaders, authorities neighbors or friends. I ask You Lord to reveal Yourself and Your plan of salvation to our president and to all political leaders and I ask that You protect their minds and hearts from the influences of darkness. Turn their hearts to You for the salvation of their souls, and use me to speak life and hope into our society. I pray for an outpouring of Holy Spirit granting revelation of the truth of Your kingdom to all that are lost not knowing Your salvation. Draw them home into your kingdom and show them an increasing revelation of Your love. In Jesus’ name, amen!”
VERSE FOR FEARLESS LIVING! ~ Zephaniah 3:16-17 “In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: “Do not fear; Zion, let not your hands be weak. The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
