What Manner of Love!

What Manner of Love the Father Has Bestowed On Us!

VERSE OF THE DAY: ~1 John 3:1-8  “Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.  Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.  And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.  And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.  Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.  He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.  Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.”

In John’s gospel chapter 1 he proclaims that “as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the Children of God….who were born not of blood, or the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man but born of God” The beauty of the gospel of Jesus Christ is that whatever a person has done or become, they can leave that old person at the cross, and become a new creation in the power of Christ’s resurrection. We are all empowered as the children of God to conquer sin and to live completely free from it’s grip! Christ came to destroy the works of the devil!

Sin and darkness have been destroyed by Jesus Christ and we are free. We are free from sin and we are free from it’s power. Over time we have, in many ways, made the gospel about going to heaven, which is true. But the gospel is also a declaration of a life free from the effects of sin and darkness now. It is a life of victory over self will and desire. The gospel is power and grace to walk in and through the unselfish love of God and to live a life that our actions actually bring praise and glory to God’s name. I’m not making it up. This truth is laced and scattered throughout the entire Bible especially the letters of Paul and the teaching of Jesus. The enemy has been destroyed but we are to declare the power of the gospel as we walk in the power Christ provides through the truth of His word and through the power of Holy Spirit operating in our lives.

PRAYER: “Thank You Jesus for destroying the works of the devil! Thank You because that means every addiction is broken, and all sickness and disease are defeated! Thank you for freeing Your people from guilt and shame and for empowering us to walk in complete freedom from the vices of this world and of the enemy! I ask that You open our understanding of what this means and increase our faith to walk in the victory that You purchased for us at the cross. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

VERSE FOR FEARLESS LIVING!  ~ Luke 10:18-20 “And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.  Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”
