The Anointed One

VERSE OF THE DAY: ~Luke 4:17-21 “And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him.  And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Some 700 years before Christ, Isaiah prophesied that the Messiah would come and certain things would mark His arrival and His presence: (Following are taken from Isaiah 61:1-3 where Jesus read from above)

            • He would be anointed (consecrated) by Holy Spirit to preach good news to the poor (humble, meek, lowly)

            • Messiah would be sent by Holy Spirit to heal the brokenhearted (bind up those who are broken)

            • To proclaim liberty to the captives. Original language says ‘release those who are taken captive

            • And opening of the prison to those who are bound

            • To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of vengeance of our God

            • To comfort all who mourn

            • To console those who are in Zion

            • To give them beauty for ashes

            • To give them the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness

            • That they may be called the trees of righteousness the planting of the Lord

            • That He may be glorified!

Every thing in this text shows us that God is very interested in impacting your life for the better right now in this present lifetime. None of us have to wait for heaven to experience this stuff in our life.

PRAYER: “Father I thank You for sending Jesus the anointed one to free me from darkness and captivity and to heal me up from all brokenness. I receive Your deliverance and healing right now and I ask You to manifest each of these promises into my life and those around me, in Jesus’ name, amen.”

VERSE FOR FEARLESS LIVING!  ~Proverbs 3:23-25  “Then you will walk safely in your way, And your foot will not stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes;”
