Alive to God And Free From Sin

VERSE OF THE DAY: Romans 6:7-12 “For he who has died has been freed from sin. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore, do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
The result of what we just read is found in another scripture. 2 Corinthians 5 tells us that all old things have passed away and behold all things become new! This sripture is such good news, it doesn’t tell us how to “live with” our old self or how to “make due” the best we can with the person we have been. This verse does not tell us that we have to recall and relive our old life in order to figure out why we are what we are. And it definitely tells us that we do not have to wear any labels for the rest of our life! What it does say is that we can die to the old person and nail our past to the cross along with the reasons we once were what we were. We now have power to change whatever we need to. What it does tell us is that we can now be raised into the newness of the created identity that God designed us for all along!
This means we are freed from sin. We are free from the curse of darkness, sin, the flesh, the world and the enemy of our souls. The enemy no longer has any legal right to afflict us with sickness, condemnation, guilt or shame. So when those thoughts of temptation or desire come your way, or when those memories of past addictions, or habits try to plague your mind or dreams, you can lift your eyes to heaven and say “Thank You Jesus that when You went to that cross it was not only for me it was as me. You have made me a brand new man who no longer has those issues keeping me down.” Now every believer can say “I am free from the old person because they are dead and this new person is walking after the Holy Spirit and the grace of God!” Now That’s good news, that’s the gospel!
PRAYER: “Thank You Jesus for the new freedom that comes through living with You. Thank you Father for loving me and giving me the right to call myself Your son/daughter, you have made me an heir to Your kingdom and the world, the flesh, and the past are dead to me because I am resurrected with Christ into a new and glorious life. Amen!”
VERSE FOR FEARLESS LIVING! ~ Psalms 27:14 “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!”
