If Anyone Thirsts

VERSE OF THE DAY:  John 7:37-39 “On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.”

Feast day, there are people all around from every walk of life, Jesus sees them all. From rich to poor, Pharisee to publican He can hear their thoughts and knows their every need. Perhaps He could see the woman who in the next chapter would be caught in adultery and thrown at His feet?  As well, perhaps He could see the self righteous hearts of those men who would try and condemn her to be stoned. Beyond that He could see and feel the hidden fear, hurt, brokenness and even guilt or shame that lurked in secret places of the hearts of those whose presence made up the feast day crowd.  I can’t say for sure what was in the hearts of those people that day or even who was there. But something there was stirring the heart of our savior! Stirring Him so deeply that He had to get up and cry out “I can give LIFE to  your spirit!”

Whatever it was that stirred Him that day, Jesus our Lord and redeemer somehow became so moved with compassion that He stood and cried out to the crowds “If anyone among you is thirsty let them come to Me and drink, believe in Me and out of your hearts will flow rivers of living water!” No matter what causes the dryness of a human soul, Jesus the Messiah is calling out to you this day “Come unto Me and I will fill you with the living waters of My Holy Spirit!” you can experience or re-experience the refreshing, life giving, soul cleansing, equipping and empowering presence of the Holy Spirit living inside of you. But, Holy Spirit can only be accessed by coming to Christ and receiving Him as Lord and savior!

PRAYER: “Lord Jesus, I do not want my commitment to You to be based on hype, feelings nor emotions, but I do want the fullness of Your promises to flow through my life, and I do want the satisfaction and the power to live victoriously which You promise in the Bible. I ask you to fill me with that living water you speak of often in Your word. I receive You Holy Spirit into my life and I ask You to increase my awareness of Your presence in and around me. Thank You for hearing my prayer Lord, in Jesus name Amen”

VERSE FOR FEARLESS LIVING!  ~Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
