My Presence Will Go With You

VERSE OF THE DAY:  ~Exodus 33:14-16 ‘And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”  Then he said to Him, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here. For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth.”

This text holds one of the top answers to the question; “What makes true Christianity different from any other religion? Or; “How can I discern true Christianity from the phonies?” Moses gives us the separating factor. It is the Presence of God! We don’t need more rules, we don’t need more lenient rules, we don’t need better philosophy, we don’t need fancier or better buildings, we don’t need material endowment, or the best talent money can buy. Sure, some of these things are fine and all of them appropriate to certain circumstances, I get that. More can happen with seconds of time spent in the presence of the Almighty creator. Moses knew this and that was the basis of his conversation with God.

If Your Presence does not go with us … why bother going at all? How else will anyone know that we have found grace in Your sight, except Your Presence be with us? It is You Lord, being present with us, that will separate us from all the people on the earth. Presence in this context refers to the weight of His Glory or the manifest Presence as it was described as a cloud in vs 10. There is a difference between that and what we call the omni-presence of God who is everywhere. All are invited to come and enjoy the manifest Presence of the Lord by receiving Christ and becoming born of His Spirit.

PRAYER: “My heart cries out to You Lord for more of Your Presence in my life! Take me deeper into the weight of Your glory and bring me closer to Your heart. Your word says that You are with me everywhere I Go so I ask You to increase my awareness of You and to increase Your presence in and around my life, in my worship, in my church and in my daily routine through life. In Jesus mighty name Amen!”

VERSE FOR FEARLESS LIVING!  ~2 Kings 6:16-17 ‘So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”  And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.’
