Walk In The Light

VERSE OF THE DAY: ~1 John 1:5-9 “This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
This text gives us yet another example of the realm of light ‘vs’ the realm of darkness. A person really can only be loyal to one or the other. There is no lasting or satisfying mixture of the two. Which is really good news because this truth offers us hope for freedom from the bondages of this world’s darkness. Jesus will provide the grace and power necessary to live according to His word and if He has called us out of darkness then He will be faithful to empower us to conquer the vices of that realm. The problem comes when a person deceives themselves into believing that they can have both worlds. Light drives out darkness it’s as simple as that. As you read through this entire letter from John you will see that these verses are in no way an excuse for living in compromise with sinful vices.
You will actually see that we are able, because of Christ in us, to live an entirely sin free life. Because He has conquered and freed us from all darkness. We have all sinned because we all once walked in darkness prior to being born again but once we are born again we are cleansed from all that old life. At least this is true in God’s eyes, He sees us as cleansed! Christ is a faithful advocate and if we stumble into darkness He is faithful to forgive as we are faithful to recognize and confess. But I think it is awesome that scripture tells us we can walk free from all sin. We can benefit our walk with God greatly by embracing the truth that behaviors are the fruit of sin, and sin is walking outside of faith in God and absent of the pursuit of Holy Spirit regeneration and guidance which leads us toward intimacy with Heavenly Father.
PRAYER: “Thank You Jesus, for cleansing me and setting me free from all darkness. Thank you God for loving me and allowing me the grace to walk in your kingdom of love and light. I thank You for empowering me to walk in freedom from all the vices of this present world to live a life that is righteous before You and through You. Lord, I thank You for the fellowship we can share with one another and I look so forward to growing into a deeper relationship with You. Amen.”
VERSE FOR FEARLESS LIVING! ~ Mark 5:36 “As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, “Do not be afraid; only believe.”
