Their Sound Has Gone Out

VERSE OF THE DAY:  ~ Romans 10:13-17 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”  How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?  And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”  But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”  So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: “Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.”

In Ezekiel 12 The Lord says “I am the Lord I speak and the word which I speak will come to pass;… I will say the word and perform it” God speaks! He speaks through preachers and prophets, He speaks through His written word and He speaks via Holy Spirit. He can speak through circumstances or through an “unction” in your heart or God can speak through visions and dreams. What He speaks will never contradict what He has spoken nor will it change what has been written in the Bible which He gave us as an authority by which we can measure any and all things. Our text today unfolds some awesome principles from God’s plan for humanity.

God’s plan for all mankind everywhere is that we all be saved. That means delivered from sin and from darkness and fully restored to our created identity. Our scripture tells us that “whosoever” calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved, but how shall they call on whom they have not heard? God has chosen the preaching of His gospel as the primary means for people to come to know His salvation. How shall they hear without a preacher? Our text lays out the plan for His church also, to preach and to send out preachers because there is an entire world out there full of people who are hungry for the word of God and desperate for the gospel of His kingdom. Both the faith that causes one to turn to God and the faith by which believers grow and receive God’s promises are released and developed through the hearing of God’s word. We learn to hear God’s word correctly by preparing our hearts through prayerful reading and meditation upon God’s written word. Selah!

PRAYER: “Lord I ask that You teach me to hear from You. I ask for increased faith that can only come through hearing Your word. God grant me ears to hear what You are speaking. Teach me and show me how to prepare my heart to receive Your word so that it will take root in me and bear good fruit for Your kingdom even 100 fold. I ask these things in the wonderful and mighty name of Jesus Christ, amen.”

VERSE FOR FEARLESS LIVING!  ~  John 14:25-27 “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
