What Is Biblical Healing?

Lets talk about healing as it is portrayed through both Old and New Covenant references in the Holy Scriptures (aka “The Bible”).
There are many practices around that claim healing from a spiritual or faith perspective. While some of these do offer different levels of success, they are not all from God, the creator and author of all things. Have you ever taken the time, meditated on, or pondered about, what the Holy Bible really teaches concerning God’s word for your divine health? Have you ever thought about what His word says about the believer’s authority to bring healing into the world surrounding them?
The word, “healing” refers to: repair, restoration, recovery (from an illness,) removal of any sickness or disease, to make whole or sound, the cure of a disease or wound, to reconcile, to restore to a sound state (paraphrased from Webster). Biblical healing is more than philosophy or Biblical theory, Biblical healing is a confirmable and demonstratable practice that we, Born-again Believers, are meant to see flowing out of our daily lives.
The term divine in part is defined as “above what is human” …this should be clarified. Spiritual does not always mean Godly. There are dark spirits who can give sickness to, and take it from, a person. Our society boasts several methods of “healing and recovery;” many of which are rooted in (or derived from) eastern religion, idolatry, even from black/dark arts, universalism and/or many other forms of “channeling energies” that are not from God, the creator of all things. Some of these are, at best, humanistic and in some cases they can be rooted in shamanism, juju, voodoo, witchcraft, sorcery, and so on. Each individual has a responsibility to research the methods of healing you practice and/or partake of. There are some common methods in today’s marketplace that even “Christians” partake of, without a second thought that are rooted in eastern religion. Many of these offer some sort of temporary relief but they have a tendency to keep you coming back again and again, usually for a fee and the purchase of expensive supplemental products.
The Good News is that healing is Biblical! Biblical healing is not tied to channeling energy, hypnosis, bringing your body into alignment with forces, idols, etc… Biblical healing is not mind over matter, faith healing, or positive thinking, it is not praying to guide a surgeon’s hands, nor is it connected to diet, supplementation, exercise or nutrition. Even though some of these may not be bad practices.
So what is Biblical healing?
God’s power/authority working within a person’s body, mind, spirit, soul to remove the workings of sickness, death, injury or disease, as well as, removing any demonic presence that could be causing these things. Biblical healing is also restoring health and wholeness (full repair) to any part of a person that has been affected by injury, disease, sickness or demonic influence.
The implementation of the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus over the law of sin and death. (Romans 8:2)
The reconciliation of the stripes Jesus bore when He purchased your health and wholeness. 1 Peter 2:24 “By His stripes you were healed!” It is time to cash in your ticket!
Biblical healing is one evidence of God’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. (Luke 9&10; Matthew 10)
Biblical healing and health is God’s will, always and in every situation.
Biblical healing, health and life are included with the inheritance of the saints in Christ Jesus!
Biblical healing is the body of Christ enforcing God’s sovereign will over the oppressor who is a thief that has come to steal, kill and destroy, in part through sickness, death, disease, injury and oppression. (Acts 10:38; John 10:10; Hebrews 10:10-14; Ephesians 3:10)
Biblical healing is part of our great commission as believers in and disciples of Christ (Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 16:15-20; Matthew 10:8; Luke 9:2 & 10:9; John 17:18-20 & 20:21).
Biblical healing is already determined by God as His will! It is NOT something He is deciding on a case by case scenario. (Isaiah 53:5; Psalms 103:3; 107:20; 2 Corinthians 1:19-20; Ephesians 1:3; Romans 10:13; 2 Peter 1:3-4; Exodus 15:26; 1 Peter 2:24).
Biblical healing is God’s will for everyone to receive and to practice.

Prayer~ Taken from Paul’s Prayer for Ephesus (Practice making this prayer your own):
I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to “me” the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of “my” understanding being enlightened; that “I” may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power” –Amen.
