Weapons of Our Warfare

VERSE OF THE DAY: ~ 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
Paul often viewed the Christian walk as a warfare. Perhaps because he knew the reality of our calling to take the gospel of the Kingdom to the ends of the earth means to establish God’s Kingdom until Christ returns. This is a battle but we must remember that the primary battle field is the thought-life in our mind. Both the kingdom of God and darkness want to build strongholds in your thought life. This is why there is such a constant battle for what kind of faith we will put into the truth of the scriptures. Behind this battle we see attacks on creation, identity, sexuality, mental health, physical health, and on how we interpret scripture for these areas and more.
Notice our text exposes the reality of thoughts that exalt against the knowledge of God? Please don’t worry. You are in control of your own mind! But, that’s the idea of our text as well. God’s word encourages you to bring all of our thoughts captive and into obedience of God’s word. The best way to do this is to read, meditate and fill your mind with scripture. The person whose mind, heart and spirit are filled with God’s word is more likely to live it out victoriously. The best approach is proactive and intentional about accessing the promises of God and that seeks the development of His character in our thoughts and action.
Pursue your awareness of His presence and allow Him to transform you into His love. Pray in the Holy Spirit and declare the truth of God’s word often. Christian meditation is not the practice of emptying one’s mind. It is the practice of renewing our minds by filling our thoughts and words with promises from scripture. One practice that has proven to be effective is the verbal declaration of scriptural promises and truths. Once you are “born” of the Spirit, you can boldly proclaim and access everything the Bible reveals as being yours. As you read through the prayer/declarations below, say them aloud.
PRAYER/DECLARATIONS: “I believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and that God has raised Him from the dead!” – “I am a son of God born of His Spirit.” – “I have been delivered from darkness and conveyed into the Kingdom of Christ!” – “It has pleased God my Father to have accepted me into His beloved” – “I am blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” – “I am a new creation in Christ” – “All things are made new the old things have passed away.” – “I walk in newness of life as a believer in Christ” Let these promises be your reality from this moment forward. ~Amen!
VERSE FOR FEARLESS LIVING! ~ Psalms 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”
