The Faith That Was Once Delivered

VERSE OF THE DAY: ~Jude 1:2-6 “Mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you. Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ. But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day.”
Do you ever imagine what the early church looked like? I’m not talking about the clay or bricks their buildings were made from or even what kind of duds made up their Sunday best, but what was their function in society, what role did they play in their community, or how did they interact in their meetings and in what way or how often did they have corporate prayer meetings? As you read through the gospels, book of Acts or the epistles what do you envision for the type of communion they had with God Himself? What was the faith that was once delivered? What is the original gospel message? Jude challenges us to contend and to fight for that faith. The faith that was once delivered to the saints!
We all have what appear to be rational reasons that justify doing things differently so we can better fit into this generation. But when was the church supposed to ever fit in to the world’s agenda? The true gospel goes cross grain the ways of the world. It is a message of light that exposes the blinding darkness of the world which has veiled the multitudes from seeing the truth of God’s kingdom and His power to set us free. We must fight to retain our faith in the gospel message that Christ has come to reverse the curse of sin and death which was released in the garden and He has purchased the redemption of life given at creation as our pre-fall of man state. I pray that we all have ears to hear what that really means for each human being created in the image of God.
PRAYER: “God give us ears to hear and hearts to understand the fullness of the gospel message and restore to us what that original faith in You is supposed to be. Expose and cast down every vain thought and imagination that tries to rob Your people from experiencing the whole package of salvation that You purchased for us on the cross and through Your resurrection. You came to give us life now and through eternity. Impart to our spirits the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints and help us to live the full experience of Your salvation. In Jesus’ name amen.”
VERSE FOR FEARLESS LIVING! ~ Isaiah 12:2-3 “Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.’” Therefore with joy you will draw water From the wells of salvation.”
